All people around me blame me that i was lazy, selfish and uneducated to breastfeed my baby. the big problem was when i took my baby to 3 doctors to see why she couldn't latch, they all didn't examine her mouth to see if she has upper lip tie and told me that i need to try for her several times and do my best to breastfeed her!!! I have discovered that she has upper lip tie when she was 4 months and i took her again to the same three doctors and told them that she has upper lip tie and that affected her lactating, but they all said upper lip tie is not a problem and will not case any breastfeeding problem!!

Many thanks for sharing your story..

With Love,
Sarah's Mommy
Kingdom of Saudi ArabiaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3031365054062081637.post-61602119882701651612011-09-10T16:38:57.955-03:002011-09-10T16:38:57.955-03:00Came across your blog while searching about tongue...Came across your blog while searching about tongue/lip ties. I have been through 6 months of agony with my little guy only to be told that he just "has a small mouth" by pediatricians and lac consultants time and time again. I finally took matters into my own hands and did the research and came across a dentist in my area who has been trained by Dr. K. He diagnosed my son with class 4 tongue and lip tie. 5 minutes after the procedure we had the most beautiful, painless nursing session.
I share in your frustration about the lack of information and education on this subject and I am so sorry for all that you went through. Thank you for sharing your story.Emilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06822060171414001736noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3031365054062081637.post-31942649228457573442011-08-14T04:09:31.144-03:002011-08-14T04:09:31.144-03:00Lisa, this is a beautiful follow up to your story....Lisa, this is a beautiful follow up to your story. I am glad you contacted Dr. K and got confirmation on this condition... I'm still reeling that I'd never heard of this one, either. It deserves it's own post. If you ever feel like writing a guest post on lip ties, let me know - you've already done great research and could give it a personal spin, which I think could really help others out there struggling with this. The Fearless Formula Feederhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08431179746019087708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3031365054062081637.post-5394489389675831392011-08-12T00:28:17.649-03:002011-08-12T00:28:17.649-03:00The last sentence that your Mom wrote... all new M...The last sentence that your Mom wrote... all new Mom's should live by it:

"Love your daughter/son and always follow your Mommy's intuition as Mom's know their children best."

XXOOAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3031365054062081637.post-84998430716282520522011-08-11T19:17:58.627-03:002011-08-11T19:17:58.627-03:00I am happy you have closure.never heard of this. I felt like I let you down as I couldn't breast feed you like I could your brother. It was no until years later that we found out about your jaw that explained it to you.
Love your daughter and always follow your mommy's intution as mom's know their children best .

love you
MomAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3031365054062081637.post-80233818847055323292011-08-11T19:11:16.794-03:002011-08-11T19:11:16.794-03:00I just checked my 3.5 yr old's mouth and she h...I just checked my 3.5 yr old's mouth and she has it, too. This explains why she had so many cavities despite us doing our best from the start, well at least it is another factor I can add on to besides genetics and us using the non-cloudier toothpaste. Wow. If you search my public blog you'll see a load of entries about that, the tears and months and pain and couple thousand dollars that cost us. Wow. So double thanks, your post has brought me resolution as well and now I can get Oliver taken care of before he goes through what his big sister has.1001 Petalshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13953255531499959699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3031365054062081637.post-40777490472434724112011-08-11T18:29:19.642-03:002011-08-11T18:29:19.642-03:00I'm so glad you posted this. You may recognize...I'm so glad you posted this. You may recognize me from your LJ birth month community. Oliver has the exact same thing, actually he has his two front teeth now and it goes between them. I also suspected he has a tongue tie but a couple months ago it seems to have cut on it's own as suddenly it appeared white and torn, I could see under his tongue all of a sudden. It was weird.

But Oliver never has had trouble nursing, though I don't think he has what is considered to be a great latch. I'd already been nursing for 3 yrs though, and although I felt raw at first, that went away and was never that bad. Oliver always seems to have gotten enough milk. I wonder though if I should do anything about it. I guess I'll take him to his first dentist apply this fall since he has 4 teeth now and see what they say about it.

Anyway, thanks for sharing this info!1001 Petalshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13953255531499959699noreply@blogger.com
